One Brave Little Man

My 11 year old nephew, Jackson, was born with hydrocephalus.... water on the brain. He had his first surgery at the ripe old age of 5 weeks to put a shunt in his head. Jack and family has always known it wasn't going to last forever, but to get 11 years out of it was amazing. Well.... the time came last Sat. for the shunt to fail - and so immediate brain surgery was the answer.

I am so happy to share that today - less than one week later - my little brave man - is walking out of the hospital, shunt free.

Jack - you are amazing. Good to know you got all the brave genes.

Well, after a break from blogging, school and more - I'M BACK!

We had an unbelievable Christmas with both families. Kelly, Jon, Payne and Jack enjoyed the white Christmas with us. Mom's brother, Jimmy, was here for a week and helped make the holidays so special.

The basketball team played in Chattanooga in the local tournament and went 1-2. Rheagan's team also played in a tournament and got 2nd place. She made the all-tournament team as well.

After some down time ( and decluttering time ) we are ready to get back to school and a routine.

I'll have some pictures ready to share sometime this week.

Tripp and Rhea's Special Days

For our fall break from school, Rheagan and I began in Chatty for a gal only time. After some birthday shopping for Tripp, we went to paint pottery. Rhea loves the place and begs to go when we do get a free moment. She painted a plate - I painted a spoon rest. We enjoyed a quick lunch at Chili's too.

On Friday we decided to go camping to Gee Creek in Polk County. (yes - we made a run for the border!) We finally finished stuffing enough stuff for 10 days in the car along with 4 bikes and headed out after lunch. Two other families were already there and saved us a great spot. While Mack put the tent up the kids went to the Hiwassee River. Some knuckle-heads actually went swimming. Dinner included steaks, fried tators, corn and green beans.

MH joined us on Saturday and brought Tripp a birthday cake. We didn't have a "formal" birthday party for him - but the all campers helped make his day extra special. Instead of a small intimate party - he had a whole camp ground for a party place. There were no balloons or sparklers, but the playground, bike trails, and friends made it so much fun for him. Tripp got a new bike for his birthday and rode it for hours. As he'd pass different campsites, families would say to him "Happy Birthday". It was like a parade for my little man.

Sunday we packed up again and headed home. After the 2 little ones took solid naps, we raced to the soccer complex where Tripp scored his typical 6-7 goals. Rhea even scored one to help her team to a 1-0 victory. I'd chalk up Fall Break to a success.

Of course - do I have pictures.... YES. Do I have them with me now.... NO. Pictures will come - sometime before Tripp's 6, I promise!

After a VERY full weekend of activities.... I forgot my camera at home with the shots I wanted to upload for this page. We went to the Cleveland/Nasty School game on Friday. Saturday was packed with Tennessee River activities and the Tennessee game. Sunday we were at the Atlanta Race where I took about 500 pictures. Monday was a nice restful day with family and friends, but somehow in getting back into the swing of things I FORGOT TO PACK UP MY CAMERA.

It's like forgetting a child - HOW DID I DO THAT?

SO... bottom line - Happy Birthday Mack! You are my oldest husband. = oh wait... You are my only husband!

I tell Rhea that she's my favorite daughter all time and she reminds me that she's my only daughter.

Rheagan had an opportunity to be in Franklin, TN this past weekend for a girls only golf camp. She LOVED it. We slowed the car down just long enough for her to jump out of Friday and watched the College "Shoot-out" on Sunday afternoon.

Spring Break

Here's our week in review. Unforunately, I have no pictures of the aquarium because the camera battery was DEAD. We did some cool behind-the-scenes things: fed the otters and trout, fed shrimp to sting rays, went above the tanks to talk to the divers as they got out of the water.

We also went camping. This was Trippers first experience with the tent camping thing - and loved it! He wants to go back in "5 weeks". We went about 30 minutes from the house at Gee Creek. It's on the Hiwasee River in Polk Co. It was perfectly quiet and restful for us all. Note Tripp taking a nap in the chair!

Email from Haiti

This is an email that a friend sent who has spent a week in Haiti - and volunteered to stay on for another week. She's between the weeks right now. The basketball teams at Cleveland brought deflated balls and children meds for her to take. Just thought you'd be intrested in hearing her stories.....

Well let me just say I would give 1,000,000 dollars to have you with me on this trip. You would absolutely be amazed. The people are great. I love the children. The basketballs and other balls were a great success. About half went to a childrens orphanage, and one fourth just handed out individually, and one fourth to a school yard right behind the motel where I was sleeping in the courtyard.

It is cool because....toys.....I have noticed are non existant. One I saw was a few Home made kites made from trash and sticks - that was cool and they actually flew. It is very noisy where we stay. Horns, motorcycles, lots of loud music and people. I lay in my tent and listen each night. No in addition.......I hear basketballs bouncing....that is cool!!!!

As for the tylenol, motrin and vitamins.....we had more of that then anything. We did good - because of everything we used it was used most and had the least left over. All the childrens vitamins are gone and just very few of the childrens tylenol left. Please pass this on to the team and let them know......THEY........made a difference and to always in life continue to do this - no matter how small or large the contribution. then please read them the character quote at the bottom of my email.

Here we go again with basketball. Rheagan had her first game last night (a strong victory) and the Lady Raiders will tip it off tonight against Baylor. For the first time I sat in the stands as "one of those" parents. I hope I held my tongue and didn't embarrass myself! If the rest of our seasons go as well as last night, I'll be so happy!

I have not had time to wish the love of my life a Happy Birthday. Mack turned 41 on Monday and requested to play golf with the family. What a tender thought - right? As the VeggieTales song rings in my head (Hairbrush), I really do know where my girl is. According to her, the best week of the summer is happening. She flew to Texas today for a cousin, cousin of cousin, friend and random strangers party. Kelly has asked Rhea to join her family for a weekend of fun at Lakey. From what I can tell, it's like going to the fattest part of the Hiwasee River. Tubing, Rope Swings, Puddle jumping, etc.

I just pray that Texas can stay as normal as possible - there's nothing like the touch of Rhea.

Rheagan will return NEXT Tuesday and will pick up my cousins from California along the way for some more fun. Who says summer is almost over. I guess we've saved the best for last!

A small shout-out to my girl who won her golf tournament today. She shot 17 yesterday and 19 today, and won by 10+ strokes. What made it even better she tied a boy for first overall. She was so excited to win - but felt even better knowing she was tied for first with the boys. She is now the back - to - back - to - back Girls Club Champion.

As a celebration, we are spending the weekend at the river. Rhea will have a friend spend the night tonight and another family will join the fun tomorrow. Can you say - TUBE!!!!

I can't believe that the Summer break is half over. I honestly feel like it hasn't started. There has not been one "down" day. Oh well - people say life with kids will keep anyone on their toes! I know exactly how true that statement is.

A few more updates from our family -

about 40 scrimmage games in 3 weeks for the freshman, JV or Varsity teams.
Lady Raider Basketball camp - 70 campers
soccer camp and basketball camp for Rhea
Six Flags with the bball team (Rhea had a ball!)
Golf camp each Tuesday morning
lots of swimming at the pool
getting the River house "livable"
Jackson here for a few days as he goes on his 3rd grade journey
doctor visits for Rhea and Tripp
lost tooth for Rhea

June went fast and furious. I hope July doesn't fly by.

p.s. Rheagan is contact wearer. She got fitted on Wednesday and is going fabulous with them. My blue eyed gal is back!

p.s.s. Rhea had strep throat as of Sunday. Tripp has an ear infection as of Thursday. My kids have NEVER been on antibiotics at the same time.

week 1 update

If the rest of my summer flies by as quickly as this week has done, I'm in trouble. I'll be in even bigger trouble if I'm as busy as I was this week.

Monday - Lady Raider camp with 65 k-8th graders. Practice with the 22 Lady Raiders.
Tuesday - Lady Raider camp and practice
Wednesday - Lady Raider camp and practice
Thursday - Lady Raider camp and practice. Planted Black-eyed peas in the thunder. (comforting... let me tell ya!) Lost Rheagan somewhere between camp and practice to my parents who kidnapped her and took her to Williamsburg, VA. They say they'll return on Monday.
Friday - Lady Raiders play in 4 scrimmage games at Meigs County.
Saturday - Lady Raiders play in 7 scrimmage games at Bryan College.
Sunday - Kept nursery at church then river play all day. Tripp tried to ski. He tubed and knee boarded solo. What a big kid!

p.s. - Rheagan won the "triple threat" award at camp = she was pumped!

Poison Ivy

You would think that somewhere in my 37 years on Earth that I would have learned what poison ivy looks like. I might not be able to spot it growing, but I sure can feel the effects on my body. I am allergic to the darn stuff and covered head to toe with the junk. I cleaned my flower beds this past weekend and woke up Monday itching all over. I volunteered to go get a shot by 10:00 a.m. thinking I'd catch it quick. WRONG.... it keeps spreading and itching and spreading and itching. (you get the drift).

Tomorrow - another doc visit is planned. I can't start my summer off like this!

Weekend Update

What a glorious weekend for Cleveland High School Athletics. Once again we were rescheduling our activities due to the weather - but because the outcomes were positive, I think we'll adjust ANY TIME!

Let's start at the very beginning..... Thursday. Field day at Stuart School. BIG STUFF!!!! Mom, Dad and I worked the 300 yard run and baton relay. Here are a few shots of Rhea and classmates having fun.

Friday - A lovely reunion with Coach Wilson and his girls. Coach is moving to South Pittsburg to coach girls basketball and football. He is a HUGE loss for Cleveland. Good Luck Coach Willie!

Friday night - Baseball game Cleveland's baseball game was postponed after a player got hurt in the second inning due to the rain. It was rescheduled for Sat..... well, they tried for Saturday.

Here is Brandon Rader - Tripp's Hero. I don't have pictures of Scott or Cody - Tripp's other "boys". More to come about the game.

Saturday - what a day! First we started with Rhea's soccer game. (Reminder - rain Friday night) The game was sloppy muddy and wet. Needless to say - just the perfect field condition for Rheagan to get covered in mud. Luckily there was no rain during the game.

Sat. afternoon the Lady Raider Basketball team went to a Murder Mystery Theater and Dinner. We had a blast. I can't remember when I've laughed that hard in a long time. I recommend it to anyone!

The CHS soccer game and baseball games got postponed AGAIN due to the rain.

Sunday - Rheagan had her last soccer game - in the rain - 52 degrees - - - makes for a fun time! She and her buddies had an even better time playing in the mud because it was raining. Pictures do not do justice to how filthy they really are!

Sunday Evening - The CHS Soccer team got to finally play their game, and won in a tight one 2-1. It was very muddy and slick but the boys played great. Here's a recent picture of Courtney and John. (Nutney and Johnny B to my family) I didn't get a picture of the soccer team all nasty because I was in my car as soon as the game was over. Good Luck at state!

We rushed to the baseball game where they won in a comeback win 7-6 in the 10th inning. This is the team that never gives up. They like to wait until the 6th or 7th inning to finally put runs on the board. All of Tripp's boys had a hand in the victory - Brandon, Scott and Cody. To the boys in blue - again good luck at state!

This week will be very busy with our trips to Murfressboro. I hope many Cleveland fans can make it over. I'll race you!

Where do I begin?

This past weekend was filled with so many different activities..... so where do I begin?

Friday - two ball canceled due to rain so we went to the CHS baseball game (shortened due to rain). Dinner with TR and family - good times! Denise and I then walked/worked the Relay for Life from 11:00-1:00 a.m. (in the rain).

Saturday - Soccer game canceled due to rain. Rheagan to recital for 1st performance at 10:00. The family reunion for lunch. Rheagan's 2nd performance at 5:00. She enjoyed being on stage and will do her dances again for anyone who missed it. I signed up to watch kids during the 2nd performance. Bad mistake...... learned that I can't deal with chaos. Kids running everywhere.... loud screaming.... Bad mistake.

Sunday - Pat Summitt's 1000 victory party. It was fun to reconnect with old friends as we celebrated Pat's 1000 win. It was a roast more or less. I'm not sure if I laughed or cried more tears. I was reminded how many true friends I have from my UT days. Rheagan was thrilled to meet "the Pat" and get a picture taken with her. It was good to see Kate Kate Gator Bait (Pat's secretary). She got me out of hot water on more than one occasion. We were invited to join the gang at Pat's house but elected to come home. It's been a long weekend and I was ready to chill.

Even though the weekend was non-relaxing, it was great. I just looked at my calendar to find out the next few weeks don't have many spare times in it either. School will be over soon!

Friday was a "Good Friday" as I crashed Mom and Rhea's party to Hannah Montana Movie. A great way to spend a Friday rainy afternoon. We had lunch at the Rebel - just imagine those onion rings! Wow.

Today was filled with egg hunts and family fun all day. We started at Nana and Pop's house (my second parents - or 3rd set of grandparents for the kiddos). We joined with their grand kids and great nieces and nephews for a fabulous egg hunts and snacks. It was fun to be a part of their family again. They are VERY special people to me.

The second round of egg hunts were at Mack's parents house with our extended family. 8 kids all under 9 make for lots of laughter and a few tears. (or a lot of tears and a few laughters...which one?) Tripp calls the Reeds - JoeJoe and Marshmellow. Fun times!

Easter Sunday will start with Tripp at "big" church for the first time. We'll see how it goes. We'll then go to the Country Club for lunch. The Masters will be our main objective but I'm sure we'll have a few more egg hunts in the middle of the day.

Animal - no Spider Kingdom

I'm not sure where Tripp's obsession with spiders or Spider Man has come from - but he pitched a fit about going to Animal Kingdom today. He was determined to go to Spider Kingdom. Go Figure - he's 3.

We saw Nemo - Awesome....wonderful... great. A 11 on a scale of 10. A must see. Think we liked it? It was the Nemo story with HUGE puppets. Even though you saw the people the didn't have an affect on the story. It was a musical, too - which i LOVE!

Rhea got her fill of roller coasters again - did Everest 4 times. They also have a ride called dinosaur - which I hated. Might be bc I hate dinosaurs.

We came back to the room to swim mid day then went back to Spider Kingdom to have a special safari ride after hours. It was great. We saw lion, cheetahs, giraffes, hippos, and gazelles to name a few. Sorry to disappoint anyone - only 350+ pictures today. Most were safari pics.

I told Nutney I'll narrow our pictures to our top 100 or so when we're done.

Tomorrow is Epcot. (the golf ball) I hope Soaring is all it's been built up to be~

Disney update

I didn't quite give the correct numbers on my pictures... i now have taken a meager 1623 in our 5 days here. I would LOVE to share a few - but it takes FOREVER to upload them with my verizon card. Now granted - most shots are 3-5 of the same shot. when trying to get 4 kids - no make that 5 kids (we include Mack in our kid count) - it takes a few shots.

We had a GREAT day - Rhea, Mack, Tripp and I got up and were at the park when it opened - and headed straight to space mountain. We did just about all we wanted to do in the park before 11:30 a.m. - but somehow didn't make it back until after the fireworks at 9:00 p.m.

Tomorrow is Animal kingdom again with a short trip to the pool in the middle of the day. The weather has been perfect for a dip in the pool.

With ONLY 8 days to play in the parks - who has time to update a silly little blog like this. I promise to put pictures (after 4 days I've taken close to 800) and give you a day by day summary.... just not now. We've gone none stop from Sat, Sunday, Monday and today. My plans are to keep it up - as I can sleep at home.

I think I might get the most pictures taken on a vacation prize. It's insane. Absolutely insane.

Not sure if you can tell - but Rhea has new glasses. No more lovely jewels and beads on the sides.

Soccer starts soon. Tripp will sit out another season - but will be ready to play in the fall. Golf has already begun for us all.

memory lane

I worked down memory lane today as I cleaned up my flower beds. I remember my grandmother's driveway full of day lilies - now lining my retaining wall. I trimmed up the red cannas from my grandmother's house and the orange cannas from my great grandmother's house. I also cleaned up the iris plants from Mack's grandmother's yard.

The other thing I figured out is that I'm not in my twenties as my back is hurting. I'll be reminded often in the next few days of how much I worked. My fingernails are nasty - but what a glorious reason to have dirty nails.

I'll post pictures in the summer of flowers.

Curtain Call

The curtain call for the Lady Raiders was short. We gave it our all - but came up short against Cumberland County. For a team that was picked 4th in the preseason to end up 1st in the district - not half bad.

What a great season with so much we overcame, achieved and learned. All of us.

So - I have turned off the lights in the gym for the last time this season..... and already looking forward to next year!

10 Honest Things

I've been challenged to list 10 things you might not know about me:

Honest things about me:

1. I love the smell of beer. Strange I know. Growing up we had a farm in Crawford, Texas. Kelly and I would have the "opportunity" to walk the road to pick up cans - which were mainly beer cans. Kelly and I also learned to drive on that stretch of road. I miss that Silver Ford Truck.

2. I wish I was a good cook. Between not being home enough and having a family that could care less about "good food", I don't get to create and try new things. I love to watch the food network and dream of great meals.

3. I love to take pictures. When I get out of teaching, I'll take up photography seriously. As of now it's fun. I had to get an external drive for my computer due the 16,000 pictures that were on here.

4. I was a manger for the Tennessee Lady Vols for 4 years. What an experience and opportunity. If ever you need good Pat Summitt stories, I can share a few. I was with the team when the won the National Championship in '91. I met President Bush, saw the Queen of England and Queen Mum, traveled to Hawaii and met INCREDIBLE people. It taught me so many life lessons. It is the best way to get a full scholarship!

5. I saw Arnold Palmer play his last Masters. One of top 5 all time sporting memories.

6. I have never colored or permed my hair. With the amount of grey I am finding these days, I might start coloring it.

7. I keep the chains for the Cleveland High School Football Team. I love getting to hear coaches talk to their players. Boys smell bad, too.

8. I love to wear blue. Might have something to do with coaching the Lady Raiders.

9. I was a member of a state champion soccer team when I was in 3rd grade. I played goalie. Proof of the saying - "the older I get the better I was".

10. I LOVE watching Nascar. I am currently for the #99, Carl Edwards. Previously I was a M&M car fan... but I can't pull for a Toyota or Kyle Busch. I have been to most southern tracks and try to add one a year to the list.

Well - all good things must come to an end. Rheagan's team got beat tonight for only their second loss of the year. We finished second in our tournament with a final record of 22-2. I won't bore you with all I'd like to share about this season so here are my top 5 highlights:

1. Having the chance to coach Rheagan. She's got more aggression, heart, desire, and talent than most her age. She really is fun to watch and I look forward to many years in the stands. (with my mouth shut)

2. Rheagan hitting the last second shot against North Lee in overtime for the victory. Nothing like having your own daughter hit the shot against her biggest rival and run to you for "the hug". Time could have stood still for me.

3. Having a chance to coach with Kathy and Shelley. Kathy and I have coached together since our girls were 5. Shelley played for me at CHS. We all get along so well and know that the girls are our number one focus. We've never put one player as more important than another.

4. Finishing the regular season undefeated. 19 games. 380 game minutes. 11 different gyms. UNTOUCHED.

5. Seeing the look on DD's face when she got a trophy tonight. She will probably NEVER get another trophy in her life. She is the reason I do this - for the smiles, high fives, girly-shrills, hugs, and being called mom on more than one occasion. I am humbled when I see DD's precious, innocent, and gorgeous smile. She'll sleep with her trophy and bring it to school - guaranteed.

I pray each of the girls will have the love for the game when they are in middle school and beyond. I tried to make practices fun and full of fundamentals. Games were intense with a dash of excitement. Thanks to each of them for a great season.

In case you don't have a Nutney - you need one! Courtney (Nutney) joined our family when I started coaching. Few life events have happened without Nutney.... birth of kids, her wedding, graduations, special parties, basketball trips, sporting events (get the drift???) She is a true angel from Heaven. She has been a blessing to me and a great role model for my kids. I thank God daily for her. Happy Birthday to you.

Basketball updates

I've pinched myself a few times. I've replayed the game in my mind several times. I've read and reread articles about the game. Low and behold - the Lady Raiders were victorious Friday night. What a game. The ladies in blue played an outstanding game against the Mustangettes.

The Stuart Lady Bulldogs will have their final regular season basketball game on Tuesday. This weekend we were victorious with a score of 13-5 over Valley View. The girls have played so well all season and I'll be sad to see it come to an end. We celebrated at Beef 'O' Bradys after the game. If ever you need a good meal in Cleveland, I recommend the Beef!

Baby It's Cold Outside

Craziest days here in Cleveland. The first of January we were out for FLOODING. Last Friday we didn't have school due to the COLD WEATHER. I'm looking outside right now and it's SNOWING! Just maybe we won't have school again tomorrow. (all fingers are crossed......)

A day off

Dr. Denning blessed the entire Cleveland City School payroll with a day off for me. That's right - for me. He had it rain so much that the area was flooding, but I thought it was for me. It was the only day of Christmas break I had to do what I wanted to do. Christmas Break was only a time away from school for me. Feel sorry for me that I had to go to Atlanta to coach basketball. Pity me that I spent 6 fun days with the Texas family with Christmas presents and World Tour. Cry a bucket that we went to Hilton Head for good times for 5 days. (golfing in December is awesome). Feel sorry again for me that I coached 2 more games after the new year.

So - all in all - Dr. D thought I could use one more day to be stuck in my house. I got so much accomplished! Christmas decor down, cleaned drains, CLEANED the garage, basement, and "dump" (upstairs empty room), FILLED a dump trailer full of trash, and cleaned under a few cabinets were just a few tasks Rheagan, Tripp and I got done.

This morning as I was in a foul mood because I was running behind on my first day back at work from the break Tripp comes running into my closet. He should have already been in the car with Mack leaving for Mimi's, but instead he runs to me and tells me he has a favor. ( When Tripp wants to tell you a secret, you have to close your eyes as he tells you "the favor" ) I kneel down to his level, close my eyes, and wait for the secret. He simply says "I love you" and runs off to the car. Needless to say, from that moment on, my day was much better. I just love his "favor"!

It is with tremendous sadness that I must report that the "Nasty School" upset us last night in overtime at the dome. There is nothing worse than:

Getting beat by the nasty school
at home
IN OVERTIME
with a starter not playing due to a MCL issue

The monkey is off our backs as we could feel the 4 year no-loss at home winning streak coming to an end. The last time we lost was in Dec. 2004. Rheagan was not in school. Tripp wasn't even thought about yet. Pres. Bush was still the good guy. The economy was good. etc.....

I guess if the Lady Vols can fall out of the top 10 for the first time in 211 straight weeks, the Lady Raiders are due a loss and fall, too. Just hate it was to the Nasty School.

We go to Atlanta this weekend for a tournament.

I'm not sure if it's me or just what the deal is.... but..... every team I am supporting is BARELY winning. I think it's me.

The Lady Vols game was exciting last night. They pulled off the win - at UTC. I was excited that I saw 30+ people I knew. The older I get - the better I was. Good to relive the "old" days with a few. Amazing that it takes so many people now to get the Lady Vols from place to place. When I was there - only 2 managers.... now.... 12.

Tonight the Lady Raiders took the floor again against Sequatchie County in another barn burner. Tonight was another victory. Way to go Lady Raiders~ I did ask our AD if I can get my gray hair coloring job paid for by the school..... it's a school related expense!

We have no depth at the point guard position - or forward position - or post position. What we do have is 11 outstanding girls who are dedicated and inspired about our upcoming year.

The Stuart Lady Bulldogs are the Champions of the Cleveland High School Tournament. They all played so well and finished with a score of 14-11. Our regular season will begin on Saturday with 15 regular season games between Sat. and the end of January.

The CHS Lady Raiders will kick off their season on Thursday this week.

This past weekend I was in the 3 different gyms from Cleveland to Knoxville to watch 14 different games. I hope that doesn't happen again for a LONG time. Yes - Big Mike you would have loved it. (For the man who NEVER gets enough bball). For some of us there is too much of a good thing!

I also love to hear the sound of a gym.... the whistle, the buzzer, the squeak of shoes, the squeals of delight from a 9 year old when she makes her first basket, and the sound of the basketball bouncing. Rheagan's team - the Stuart Bulldogs - season opener is tomorrow.

It is the most wonderful time of the year!

Champions....again

Rheagan's Lady Flames soccer team won the KFC Adidas Cup this afternoon. They played 2 games with a combined score of 17-2. Rheagan put 2 goals in herself. She played great and enjoyed the weekend in Knoxville with friends and teammates. Next weekend we head to Atlanta for a few games. Anyone want to come along?

It is not very often that Mack ventures out in restaurant world, but we can add Calhouns to our list of possibilities. Thank you Lady Flames! The soccer team went out to eat after their first blow-out tournament game. All 34 of us. At one time. Twelve girls. Together. WOW. Did I mention there was 34 of us. And 12 smelly girls. Wow. Mack was real trooper for even walking in the door, but what a blessing it was because he enjoyed his meal. With the 12 sweaty girls.

It was so good that we've already made plans to eat there tomorrow after the first game. The girls won both games today with an overall score of....24-0. Rheagan didn't get a goal herself, but set up 5 others.

Tomorrow we'll play 2 games. I'll let you know the outcome of the lunch and games.

IPod 101

Ok - Rheagan bought a beautiful blue Ipod with her name, sports #, and favorite teams on the back. After procrastinating 3 days to figure it out, we jumped into ITunes land on Sunday. Oh how easy it really is!

Somewhere between Sara Evans and Jonas Brothers, Rheagan has found her bubble world. That's where the kids go when they are in the room with you but not there. Tripp is not ready to be ignored by bubble-girl but Rheagan is loving it.

I do believe that there might be another IPod around the Hall house when Christmas rolls around. Santa - did you hear that? I'm not sure of the color... or what to say. Would that be for Tripp or the Mom?

Rheagan had her "friend" party today at River City Pottery. If anyone needs a fun place to have a party of any kind - baby shower, bridesmaid shower, birthday party and such.... the River City Pottery is the place. We took 7 friends, food, and presents to paint the day away. Rheagan chose a plate with a star and painted it black, yellow and white. After some time, I talked her into adding a few other colors to the plate. All in all - the time was great and everyone will come away with a piece of pottery (I'll pick them up next week after being fired). I want to make a trip back so that I can enjoy a painting adventure. Anyone want to come?

Tonight we got together with Amy Gail and the boys, MH, Big Mike, and Nutney to share a birthday dinner for Rhea. It is so hard to believe that my girl will be 9. That's nine. NINE. That only means 10 is right around the corner. Even though her birthday is Thursday, we have 302,292 things going on Thursday. So tonight was the night. She picked to eat at a GREAT Mexican place and then to the park to work off some energy.

We'll have party #2 with friends next Tuesday at the pottery place. Painting, laughing, and listening to little girls talk is on the agenda.

As you can see, my little man thinks of safety first. As he was playing outside yesterday he NEEDED his bike helmet even though he was not riding a bike. He was kicking a football, playing Frisbee, and getting out every outside toy imaginable. So, why title this Big Mike you ask....... Well, maybe Big Mike should have thought safety first as he played golf three weeks ago. On our SECOND hole of a golf tournament, he fell and broke his elbow. He didn't find out until today that it was broken.

Our hearts are with you Big Mike! Hope you get back to the golf course soon! When you do get back out - watch out for the cart path on 14th hole. I hear it's a grabber.

The Hall's have offically returned to the real world. We had a bad internet card that has now been replaced.

We've doing lots of soccer. Watching practices, watching games, watching CHS play..... we've even caught soccer on tv. Last night we went to the CHS football game to see Cleveland beat up on McMinn. I am a member of our chain gang and love the view of the game from the sideline. I have NEVER seen a game where boys quit, give up, want to leave the game like the McMinn players did last night. As a coach, I am interested in how coaches deal with players.

Today after watching Rheagan's team win the opening game of our Ocoee Cup, we went to see Ben and Reed play soccer. After a quick lunch we headed to the river to play. Rheagan is getting the hang of skiing. Maybe next time.

Tomorrow Mack is playing golf and I've got several things to get done at school.

We had a great weekend with Kelly and Jon at Bristol. We got up Friday, dropped the kids off at school or Mona's, then joined Mom and Dad at the Barrel for Breakfast. After filling up our bellies, we started the adventure. We just HAD to stop in Knoxville for some shopping before going North.

Once we made it to Bristol, we stopped to fill up on snacks and water then headed to the track. We browsed around buying trinkets for all who ordered things then went in to watch final practice. The Nationwide Race was "only" 250 laps we so we were out of the track early. We stayed in Boone, NC for the night.

After being lazy Saturday morning, we were being typical tourists in Boone. What a great place! VERY little humidity and a nice breeze. We loved the downtown area and ate lunch at the mellow mushroom before heading out.

We made our way back to the track for the best night of racing. What was my favorite part?...
the fly-over, the flag coming in from a sky-diver, Carl Edwards on the pole, Carl Edwards winning the race, Carl Edwards pushing Kyle Busch out of the way to win, Carl Edwards hitting Busch after the race, all the lovely mullets, the 9,310 people without shirts on, or just hanging with my sister and hubby for a weekend? It was an awesome time had by all and look forward for the chance to do it again.

We came home Sunday to play in a golf tournament with Mom and Dad. We all won door prizes and Mom and Dad even won a new microwave.
